Itinerary

Day 1

Jaffa – Tel-Aviv – Netanya

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport. Drive for a visit to the Ancient Sea Port of Jaffa. Continue through Tel Aviv and along the coast to the resort town of Netanya. Rest of the day at leisure to unwind after your long flight. Time to relax and swim in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Dinner and overnight in Netanya.

Day 2

Caesarea – Muhraka (Mount Carmel) – Nazareth – Cana – Tiberias

Drive along the coast to the Roman city of Caesarea with its impressive excavations. Continue to Mount Carmel, where Elijah confronted the Baal prophets. Continue to the town of Nazareth, where Jesus grew up. Visit the Spring Church – the only water source in the village identified as where the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary. Next, proceed to Cana, the site of the first miracle where Jesus turned water into wine (John 2:1-11). (Here, it is possible to renew marriage vows in the Wedding Church.) Finally, continue to Tiberias and check into your hotel near the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Dinner and overnight Tiberias.

Day 3

Boat Ride – Boat Museum – Mount of Beatitudes – Tabgha – Capernaum

Take a Boat Ride on the Sea of Galilee. Cruise the “fishing fields” of the Lake where Jesus calmed the storm and walked on water (Mark 6:48). Time for prayer and reflection on the boat. Visit the Boat Museum, where you can learn about the ancient fishing boats from the remains of an old boat discovered at the bottom of the Sea of Galilee. Next, drive up the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. (Matthew 5:3).  Visit the Church of Tabgha, which represents the feeding of the multitudes, and then proceed to Capernaum, where Jesus preached in the Ancient Synagogue and was his hometown after leaving Nazareth. Learn about the excavated ancient settlement. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Yardenit – Jericho – Qumran – Dead Sea 

Proceed to Yardenit, a traditional site for Baptism in the same water Jesus was baptized in by John the Baptist. Continue along the Jordan Valley to the Ancient City of Jericho. Enter Jericho, the first city conquered by Joshua, and view the Mount of Temptation (Matthew 4:1) and the Tel of Jericho. Next, drive to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.  Spend some time relaxing and enjoying floating in the waters of the Dead Sea, which have unique healing powers. Check into the hotel at the Dead Sea for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Dead Sea – Masada – Jerusalem

Today we will visit Masada and ascend the cliff-top fortress by Cable Car to inspect the ruins of Herod’s palace and fortifications which later served the Zealots to resist the Romans. Descend by Cable Car. Drive to Jerusalem. On the way, visit the Good Samaritan Inn. See the view of the city of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus. Check into the hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Bethlehem – City of David – Mount Zion – St. Peter in Gallicantu 

Drive to the city of Bethlehem to visit the Church of Nativity where Jesus was born and the Shepherds Fields, where the shepherds were tending their flocks when they heard a heavenly chorus and followed the Star to Bethlehem. Time for some shopping. Leave Bethlehem and drive back to Jerusalem to visit the City of David, excavations of the original City of David outside the Walls of the Old City. Visit Mount Zion, the Hall of the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17-30; Mark 14:12-25), and the Tomb of King David. Visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, built on the site of the house of the High Priest Caiaphas. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 7

Mount of Olives – Garden of Gethsemane – Church of All Nations – Pools of Bethesda – Church of St. Anna – Via Dolorosa – Garden Tomb 

Drive up the Mount of Olives for a beautiful view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Walk along the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-56). Visit the Church of All Nations. Enter the Old City of Jerusalem through the St. Stephens Gate and visit the Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus cured the Paralytic man. Visit the Church of St. Anne and begin your walk along the Via Dolorosa, starting from Lithstrotus (Judgment Hall) following the Stations of the Cross. Visit the Garden Tomb with optional time for prayer and reflection. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 8

Western Wall – Ein Karem – Mini Israel – Departure 

After breakfast, visit the Western Wall, then continue to Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. Finally, proceed to Mini Israel for a visit. Transfer to the airport for final departure.
